![]() Chaney Powers To Attica FAST Win; Ross Earns First Late Model Victory; Weaver Back In Victory LaneBy Brian Liskai
![]() F.A.S.T. 410 Sprints - Rob Chaney #29 While battling for third, Helms would spin on lap four to bring out the yellow. Again on the restart, Chaney drove to a commanding lead over Reed, Bell, Mintz, Brandon Martin and Bryan Sebetto. On lap six, Mintz, the Attica point leader, would drive into third. Chaney would catch the back of the field on lap nine and encountered heavy lapped traffic on by the 11th circuit, allowing Reed to close with Mintz, Martin, Sebetto and Bell in pursuit. But, once clear of the traffic, Chaney again pulled away until the caution flew on lap 20 for Jody Keegan. With 10 laps to go, Chaney had put nearly half the field a lap down, with only 12 cars on the lead lap. With a clear track, Chaney would again open up a commanding lead when the green came back out with Reed pulling away from Mintz, Martin, Sebetto, Bell, Duane Zablocki and Dean Jacobs. With just three laps remaining, Chaney was again racing into heavy lapped traffic, but Reed and Mintz could not close. With two circuits to go, Chaney avoided disaster. He made contact with Caleb Helms in turn four as he attempted to put him a lap down. Chaney was able to continue on as he drove away for the win. Reed, Mintz, Martin and Sebetto would round out the top five. Mintz was able to cut into Sebetto’s lead for the $10,000-to-win Kistler Racing Products FAST Championship Series title while also padding his Attica point lead. ![]() Summit UMP Late Models - Chris Ross #18R The first caution would fly on lap five for a Mike Bores Spin which also saw Harper slide off the track and stop. On the restart, Ross would lead as Schlenk drove into second with Irey, Hahn, Wallace, Chris Keller and Cody Scott in pursuit. Ryan Missler would stop on lap seven with a flat tire to bring out the caution. Ross had his hands full with Schlenk on the restart as Hahn, Irey, Wallace and Keller waged a terrific battle for third. But, Troy Catterene would spin on lap eight for another caution. Again on the restart, Ross and Schlenk would race side by side for the lead with Hahn, Irey, Wallace, Keller and Scott battling for third while 19th starter Larry Kingseed closed. On lap 12, Schlenk would execute a slider in turns three and four to take the lead. A lap later, and John Bores would spin to bring out another caution. On the restart, Schlenk was able to pull away from Ross with Hahn and Irey continuing their battle for third. After his early race problems, Harper was also on the move, moving into eighth by lap 14. Scott and Brandon Perkins would spin in separate incidents to bring out the caution with eight laps remaining. On the restart, Schlenk slipped off the top side of turn two, allowing Ross to close with Hahn and Irey also making up ground. With five laps to go, Schlenk began to slow as Ross drove to his inside with Hahn, Irey and Harper also closing. Ross would grab the lead on lap 21 as Schlenk stopped with a flat right rear tire. On the restart, Ross would have to hold off a charging Hahn while Irey was locked in a fantastic battle with Harper for third. However, with three laps remaining, Harper would smack into the front stretch wall, ending his great run and bringing out the caution. Ross was able to drive away from Hahn, Irey, Kingseed and Wallace on the restart. As he came out of turn four to the checkers, Ross nearly drove off the cushion into the front stretch wall, but gathered it back up to score the win over Hahn, Irey, Kingseed and Wallace as only 10 cars finished the event. ![]() F.A.S.T. 305 Sprints - Paul Weaver #1W The first caution would fly on lap seven for a Moore spin. A front torsion bar would fall out of Foos’ mount either just before or during the caution as Weaver had retaken third. With a clear track, Dussel would again pull away from Stroup as Weaver, Foos, Dinan, Jimmy Colvin, Paige Polyak, John Ivy and Steve Rando gave chase. Zack Kramer would spin on lap 12 with the restart running order Dussel, Stroup, Weaver, Foos, Dinan, Polyak, Colvin, Rando, Ivy, Jordan Ryan and Jamie Miller. Dussel would build up a substantial lead until Tyler Gunn would spin on lap 16, collecting Junior Felver. However, the caution would actually benefit Dussel as it gave him a clear track and kept him out of heavy lapped traffic. Dussel would drive off when the green reappeared as Stroup now had his hands full with Weaver. Weaver would drive into the runner-up spot on lap 18, and when the caution flew on lap 20 for another Moore spin, it put him right on Dussel’s rear bumper with Stroup, Foos, Dinan, Polyak, Rando and Ryan in pursuit. On the restart, Weaver executed a perfect slider in turns one and two to take the lead. The caution would fly a lap later for Jamie Miller who made contact with Colvin and spun, collecting Felver. Weaver would then drove away from Dussel the remaining four laps to score the in with Foos holding on to third while Dinan, Stroup and Polyak rounded out the top five. There will be no racing at Attica next week as the Attica Independent Fair takes place.
