A new face has risen to the top of the Kistler Racing Products Fremont/Attica Sprint Title (F.A.S.T.) Championship Series presented by Engine Pro & PAC Valve Springs after another back-to-back weekend of racing in Northern Ohio. This past weekend saw a pair of emotional wins as Phil Gressman brought the Genzman Racing Enterprises #53 back to Engine Pro Victory Lane for the first time since the passing of his car owner and friend, De Genzman, just prior to the start of the racing season. Saturday saw Bryan Sebetto pick up the feature win with his son, Braxton, in attendance at his first-ever sprint car race. The F.A.S.T. Series returns to both Northern Ohio tracks this weekend for Nights #9 & #10 of the 21 race schedule with teams seeking redemption or looking to continue their winning ways.

For the first time in his career, Bryan Sebetto sits atop of the F.A.S.T. Kistler Cup point standings after posting a 7th place finish at Attica Raceway and backing that up with a trip to Engine Pro Victory Lane at Fremont Speedway. To date Sebetto has posted six top-10 finishes, four top-5 finishes and a pair of victories under F.A.S.T. competition giving him the stats to be declared one of the hottest drivers in Northern Ohio right now. The JLH Construction, Adkins Fence backed #16 took over the points lead with some racing luck on his side on Friday night, but then padded his lead by chasing down Reed on lap 14 at Fremont and raced off to a 23-point lead once the night was over.

After posting four straight top-5 finishes, including a win at Fremont Speedway on May 14th, it appeared that racing luck had run out for Byron Reed at Attica Raceway Park. While making a charge from starting 15th to the top-10, the Pro Shocks, Kistler Engines backed #5R pulled off the track with power steering pump issues. The B&S Racing crew thrashed in the work area, but the car was unable to restart before the next green flag leaving the team with a 16th place finish. Reed returned to glory on Saturday and grabbed the early lead after starting third, but was unable to hold off the charges from both Bryan Sebetto and Dean Jacobs and settled for a 3rd place finish. Weekends like this only seem to fuel the drive inside the "Monclova Missile" who will be searching to add to his win total in Northern Ohio as he approaches the 50 feature wins mark at Fremont & Attica combined.

Dean Jacobs used a strong weekend performance which included back-to-back top-5 finishes to narrow his 63 point defecit entering the weekend to just 31-points after leaving Fremont on Saturday night. Jacobs has been the bridesmaid to both of Sebetto's wins at Fremont Speedway, but his luck could have easily changed on Saturday as it seemed Sebetto was not able to hit his marks exactly after the last restart. A lapped machine between that of Jacobs and the leader though kept the Northwest Ohio Towing & Recovery, NAPA Truck Center backed #97 from reaching Sebetto's tail tank before the checkered flag fell.

The homework in the shop of crew chief Bill Dougherty and driver Phil Gressman has paid off for the Ludwig Propane, Level Performance backed #53. The team built on its impressive runs against the World of Outlaws and All Stars at the end of May and were rewarded with a visit to Engine Pro Victory Lane on Friday night at Attica after holding off Greg Wilson's charge on a late restart. Phil backed the win up with an 8th place finish at Fremont Speedway, which helped him jump into 4th place in the F.A.S.T. Kistler Cup point standings just 87-markers out of first.

ImageRounding out the top-5 heading into this weekend's pair of F.A.S.T. events is Brad Haudenschild, who also owns a 133-point lead over Brad Bowman in the Hot Shot Engine Heater F.A.S.T. Rookie of the Year battle. Brad's night at Attica ended early after bringing out the first caution of the night and sending him to the pits early resulting in a 20th place finish. The R&B Enterprises, J&J Auto Racing Chassis backed #10 rebounded with a 10th place run at Fremont to keep him inside the top-5 in points.

A pair of top-10 finishes by 3J Motorsport's Kevin Lee has him inching closer and closer to the top-5 in points and now sits just 19-points behind Haudenschild in 6th place. Attica, Ohio's Brandon Martin roared back into the top-10 with a 4th place run at Attica and a 5th place run aboard Stan Courtad's #9X at Fremont. 2009 F.A.S.T. Champion Craig Mintz sits in 8th place just one point behind Martin and awaits the summer heat when the dry slick track surfaces play into the hands of the Gibsonburg, Ohio native. Veterans Todd Heller and Mike Linder round out the top-10 in the F.A.S.T. Kistler Cup point standings and are only separated by a mere 7-points.

F.A.S.T. Series action returns to Attica Raceway Park on Friday, June 10th. Gates open at 5 pm with racing starting at 7:45 pm. The series heads down the Ohio Turnpike to return to Fremont Speedway on Saturday, June 11th. Gates open at 4 pm with racing scheduled to begin around 7 pm.
