As the Nation's Independence Day approaches this weekend, the Kistler Racing Products FAST Championship Series prepares to resume points racing action.  Byron Reed holds a slim 9 point lead over Craig Mintz and is just 21 points ahead of Brandon Martin going into this weekend.  Mark Keegan sits in 4th place and Bryan Sebetto rounds out the Top 5.  This weekend marks the half-way point of the 22 scheduled FAST events this season and an intense battle is being waged on Ohio soil for the inaugural Kistler Cup trophy and $10,000 winner's share of the FAST Championship point fund.

Along with the great racing at both Attica Raceway Park and Fremont Speedway, several events will honor the heroes of our Military's past and present.  The weekend will be filled with additional entertainment for the fans of all ages at both tracks throughout the weekend.

On Friday July 3rd, Attica Raceway Park presents Kears Speed Shop Fan Appreciation Night.  The ticket price is reduced to just $10 General Admission to see 410 Sprints, 305 sprints, Late Models, and Dirt Trucks.  All four divisions for one low price.  In addition, there will be $1 hot dogs and .50 cent popcorn to make this a great night to bring the whole family.  The pits will be open for fans before the races to get pictures and autographs with Free Attica 2009 souvenir programs.  The American Legion will be presenting colors for the National Anthem and Sue Sebetto will be signing "America The Beautiful" and our "National Anthem".  Also, there will be give aways during night including Toledo Mud Hens tickets, Pace Truck and Push Truck rides, and more.

On Saturday at Fremont Speedway, the events kick off at 10 am with various branches of the military setting up displays including a pull-up bar, rock climbing wall, football toss and many other games. There will be military equipment on display for the public to view.  There will be giant inflatables for the kids from Journey's Fun Center in Fremont.   Tim's Dirt Track Simulator's will be turning virtual laps all day and night.  A petting zoo and animal rides will be provided by Tim and Lori Sidoti. Food and beverages will be sold all day long by Big D's Pizza and Tailgators Sports Bar.  Hoserville Ohio will host a bean bag tournament for any fans who want to participate.  The Kistler Racing Products FAST Championship Series will be selling FAST shirts and merchandise as well as raffle tickets for the World Finals World of Outlaws race in Charlotte, NC.  There will also be a FAST coloring contest for the kids and a water balloon toss for prizes.  A driver autograph session will also take place at some point during the afternoon closer to race time.  There is no charge to enter the fair grounds for these events throughout the day.

One of the highlights of the day's events will be the FAST Pit Crew Challenge.  Teams will go head to head in a timed event to replace parts on a race car while the driver must suit up and sign autographs before stopping the clock.  Each team must include a Military Veteran in honor of the branches of the Armed Forces who will be in attendance.  The Pit Crew Challenge will start at approximately 1:00 pm.   Driver/Teams expected to compete are Byron Reed, Craig Mintz, David Harrison, Mike Linder, Brian Smith,  John Ivy, Hammer Motorsports, DJ Foos, Dustin Stroup, Tim Buchanan, Kevin Lee, Art Ball, Will Tezak, and an all Veterans Pit Crew.  This will be a fun event for spectators to watch and for crews to participate in to see who's Pit Crew works FAST.

There will be plenty more going on throughout the day.  The Jeremy Shock Foundation booth will be selling T-shirts. The Yellow Ribbon campaign will be on hand tying yellow ribbons around trees.  There will be lots of race cars on display and driver autograph signings.  An active duty Marine Unit Honor Guard, some of whom were with Jeremy Shock when he was killed in Iraq, will present the colors prior to the racing event followed by an Invocation by Pastor Forrest Kirchenbauer.  The National Anthem will be sung by Clay Kirchenbauer and Kyleigh Harrison and Sue Sebetto will sing "Proud to be an American".  There will also be a flag dedication ceremony for a flag flown in Iraq given to Fremont Speedway to be flown here in appreciation from the soldiers serving there. There will also be cannons set off by Bob Gilmore to kick off the night of racing.

All Veterans past and present will be admitted into the races for FREE with proper military I.D. or proof of service.  There will be the display for the Sweet Home Cafe Laps For Veterans Sign. The money donated for the Laps For Veterans will be presented to The Wounded Warriors Project and the Jeremy Shock Foundation.  Military vehicles will be used for Pace Trucks throughout the night.  More events are being planned for the weekend and details are being ironed out.  Please make plans to attend these events on Friday July 3rd and Saturday July 4th to honor the men and women of our Military and those who have given their lives for our Freedom.
